Naoko Inoue Shatz presents Estate Planning and Family Law in Japan and the U.S. sponsored by Japan America Society of Washington
During this seminar, Naoko Inoue Shatz (a moderator), Makiko Omani and Akane Suzuki discussed procedural nuts and bolts of family law and estate planning that span the two countries by each speaker during the first half session, and a panel discussion followed for the second half session. During the panel discussion, each speaker shared their experience and challenges in dealing with the issues pertaining to these areas of practice. In particular, Ms. Otani, who specializes in international family cases, discussed how Japanese practitioners cope with the Hague Convention on International Child Abduction after Japan became signatory to the Hague Convention in April 2014.
